After moving to the Flathead Valley at age 11, Angela graduated from Flathead High School, and has lived in our community for over 24 years. Her brief time away from the valley was spent in the US Navy, including completing Navy Nuclear Power School, as well as supporting her husband during several military deployments.
During the last 15 years, Angela has strived to support the local community, including participating in numerous cleanup dives with Underwater Soldiers as well as volunteering her time to support A Night to Shine, scouting groups, local schools, and raising funds for CASA, Intermountain, and Sparrow's Nest. In addition, using their reptile pets, Angela and her husband provide unique interactive educational opportunities for locals.
Angela and her husband are also currently in their third year as a Glacier Range Rider Host Family, providing a summer home to an aspiring baseball player.
Outside of work and attending baseball games, Angela and her husband enjoy boating, spending time with their 3 adult children, and enjoying all that Montana has to offer.
In the more than two decades that Angela has worked in the legal field, she has managed case loads involving criminal cases, protection orders, civil litigation, landlord/tenant matters, personaly inury cases, family law, and more.
Her experience working on a variety of cases as well as her undeniable work ethic and determination to learn as much as possible makes her uniquely qualified for this position. Angela spends much of her time reviewing motions, responses, orders, statutes, case law, Supreme Court decisions, etc. to be as effective as possible in her current role managing cases in a law firm.
A strong desire to make Flathead County safer is at the core of Angela's goals as Justice of the Peace. Recidivism is a major problem in our community, particularly for DUI offenders. Despite the common belief that stricter laws are needed to institute change, our current laws actually provide for accountability in sentencing criteria that is being ignored or underutilized.
As Justice of the Peace, Angela Ream will work to hold offenders accountable through required treatment, monitoring, and ongoing oversight. Instead of maintaining the status quo, Angela plans to institute solutions and explore additional options, such as misdemeanor probation, to achieve maximum accountability and reduce recidivism.
Make Flathead County a safer place to live
Reduce recidivism, particularly with DUIs, Partner/Family Member Assaults, and drivers without valid licenses and insurance
Follow current sentencing guidelines, which are ignored or underutilized, to the most beneficial potential
Explore establishing pretrial supervision and a misdemeanor probation system, similar to other counties across Montana
